Since the age of five, Janne was fascinated with poetry and started writing on her mom‘s old computer and grandpa‘s typewriter. Growing up with an environmental scientist mother and an aunt working with mental health for asylum seekers she developed political opinions early on and became a defender of life. Today she works with videography and journalism in Germany but mostly internationally. She studies media cultural studies, and cultural anthropology at the university of Cologne where her main focus lays on postcolonial theories and queer feminism. She is part of the collectives AYELE (a women led initiative of storytellers, indigenous, and local communities) and ADA Fam (an interdisciplinary art collective of African Diaspora Women). In her multimedia work she combines experiences from her Afro-German and queer identity with activism and history through storytelling.
