Kabumbayi, known professionally as Kabumbayi Joh, is a Congolese singer, songwriter, arranger, producer and multi-instrumentalist. His music is a fusion of jazz and soukous music, originally from the Congo. At the age of 8, Joh started singing in the church choir, but he couldn’t imagine taking up music as a profession until he won a music competition at his elementary school. Winning this competition encouraged him to start a career in music and record his first album “Nos âmes”. With this album, Joh started to be booked for different events and festivals where he started to meet different artists from different regions, such as Akon, Lokua Kanza, Ismael lô, Zahara, Oliver Mtukudzi… He was the first Congolese artist to perform at the Hamwe International Festival alongside the great Malian singer Oumou Sangaré.
