Dr. Georgiana Banita was born in Bârlad, Romania, studied English and German at the universities of Iasi and Konstanz, where she obtained her PhD in American Studies. She is currently teaching at the University of Bamberg. In 2016, she initiated the conference titled »Black America and the Police«, in 2018 she organised the convention »Automatismen des Verdachts: Polizeikultur und Prognose in der Migrationsgesellschaft« (eng.: Automatisms of suspicion: Police culture and profiling in migration societies) at the University of Bamberg where she has also headed various research projects including on police culture and racial profiling.
