Born in Garoua, Cameroon in 1976, Osvalde Lewat is an award-winning art photographer and documentary filmmaker. Lewat is a graduate of Sciences-Po Paris and has trained as a cinematographer at the Femis in Paris and the Institut National de l’Image et du Son (INIS) in Montreal. She has worked as a journalist in Cameroon and lives in Paris, France. Lewat has entered and created her literary world with her debut “Les Aquatiques” (2021) which is a powerful novel about the emancipation of an African woman in the 21st century, between light and shadow that further reflects on the power games in contemporary African society. In February 2022 she won the Grand Prix Panafricain de Littérature.
